Habitat
The dire wolf is believed to have lived in America or more closely to where the grey wolf now lives other then this the dire wolf's habitat is currently unknown.

Structual adaptation one
The dire wolf were shorter then the grey wolf's which means that it would have been a slower runner and would have most likely gotten tired. They had a larger head and smaller brain then the grey wolf, they have very large teeth which researchers believe that the dire wolf may have used a bone to chew on like a dog.

Structual adaptation two
The dire wolf was the largest living canine, it was about 5 feet long and weighed around 175 pounds. The grey wolf was very similar and at the same time different to the dire wolf, most of there features were the same.

Behavourial adaptation one

Paleontologists believe that the dire wolf is similar to the hyena from the way it scavengers dead animals instead of going on a hunt and kill. The dire wolf was also similar to the modern dog because it was believed that they crushed bones with there teeth while ripping flesh of already dead animals.

Behavourial adaptation two
The dire wolf was also believed to be not as dangerous as people first thought and may have been as harmful as the modern day dog.

Physiological adaptations
The skeleton of the dire wolf is heavy and fatter then the grey wolf. They were not able to run very fast so it was difficult for them to escape their predators.

Extinction
Paleontologists believe that the reason the dire wolf became extinct was because of their spped and how they were not able to outrun their predators because of there small legs and slow speed also the impact of humans has changed alot of species and forced alot into extiction.
